  • Dear Beau,

I hooked-up the trailer and set off with my family last month as soon as the temperature hit fifty degrees on two consecutive days. We put a couple of thousand miles on the old rig checking our "traps" and searching for un-tasted food joints throughout the American heartland. We had lots of success on both counts! This month I've mentioned two new local eating places. I'll be back with out of town suggestions next month after I'm sure I didn't pick-up anything while eating on the road.

I'm pretty sure it's a "Y" chromosome thing - a primordial weakness that leads men to wait until an impending crisis sharpens their focus and pushes them to herculean efforts. How else can you explain things like the War between the States or waiting to start Christmas shopping until 3:30pm on Christmas Eve?

We'll no worries, we found tons of stuff both on our travels and in our own backyard - before long, it will have all worked it's way home to Woodstock.

It's just a week until the Chicago Botanic Garden Antiques and Garden Fair, maybe now would be a good time for me to re-arrange the whole outside display area...wait, did you hear that storm warning? I should get up there and re-roof the barn, too!

Fondly - Beau, Nancy and Addy

Breakfast on Sundays! no I don't mean greasy eggs and white toast, I mean real breakfast - dishes that include hollandaise sauce, smoked salmon beautifully poached eggs and real French croissants. 815-337-0765
