Dear ,
First, I have to
say that we are using a brand new email system this month, so if you
have any
problems with your newsletter, please let me know and I'll put our
crack Interent Technology department (Addy and me) right on it.
We've
also finally gotten almost all of our new loot unpacked.
So, since
it promises to be a beautiful weekend, why not come out
and "pick a peck" of Honeycrisp or Sweet Sixteen apples at More than Delicious Orchard and then stop by to get an eyeful of our
new inventory?
We'll be on the road to Omaha next week for one of our favorite events of the year - the
Lauritzen Gardens Antique & Garden Show. Great people, antiques, food, and fun at a wonderful young botanical garden.
I don't know what I was thinking with all those heirloom tomato plants!!! I planted nine
varieties and now we're swimming in a rainbow sea of them. Click here for my 2008 tomato planting list.
We've eaten them every which way you can
imagine - sliced, crushed, roasted, grilled and sauced. Our unofficial
tasting panel (Nancy, Addy and me) has chosen Aunt Ruby's German
Green as
the best.
Why is Andy Gump memorialized with a statue in downtown Lake Geneva, WI? Well, it turns out Sidney Smith, the creator of the Andy Gump
comic strip lived at a pretty amazing estate nearby until he died in a car wreck in 1935. We've recently
acquired the huge aquarium
he had custom made for this home. It sits on a wonderfully
beefy wrought iron stand
and has matching iron ornament on the light boxes at each end. I'm
thinking of using it to raise lobsters in my dining room.
Warm regards,
Beau
