  • Any Plants This Year?
  • Good Fences Make Good Neighbors

  • Dear Beau,

Just a short note today because I'm probably in your neighborhood right now making deliveries. The Chicago Botanic Garden Antique Fair was a great success, as usual, and I'm still trying to get all of the sold stuff out the door.

The fountain is clean, the container plants have arrived and we're digging up everything for the gardens we like to pretend we'll have in place before the end of the summer.

I've told Nancy that I'm giving her the morning off on Sunday in honor of Mothers Day. I'm not sure that she knows we don't really open until noon anyway...I can't remember the last Sunday morning we haven't had out of town customers in early before their flight home or been at some rainy flea market at the crack of dawn.

Come out and see us this weekend.

    Warm Regards,

    Beau and Nancy

    Any Plants This Year?

Just in time for Mother's Day we've received our first little truckload of beautiful mixed containers. We have some for sun and some for shade. These are not little, barely started things - They're blooming beautifully and ready to make an impact right now.

This load is mostly big, 14"-16" mixed containers for use either as is or for dropping into larger containers. We also have a few 10" hanging baskets - perfectly sized for dropping into smaller planters.

We're keeping them inside until the worst of this windy, cold weather passes, but they'll all be going out on Saturday morning.

    Good Fences Make Good Neighbors

We've got all kinds of new gates and fencing in and we're feverishly working to straighten out the kinks and fix the latches so we can put it all out.

Here's a bit of what's come in: two great little arched gates with over 50' of matching low fence from Philadelphia. 60' or so of another low edging type of fence from on top of a garden wall in Galena, IL...

a whole collection of tremendous, decorative cast iron gate posts from Indianapolis. Finally, I have the perfect posts to put together with those beautiful arched German floral panels we got in last Fall...

a dozen of the most unbelievable German cast and wrought iron panel posts that look like they're straight from Mad King Ludwig's castle. They're almost 6' tall and would be great in pairs for a gateway or singly for rose tutors and strongly vertical garden art.

And, for the first time in ages, we have a set of 8' wide by 5'6" gothic wrought iron panels perfect for a big pair of driveway gates - Andy in Lake Geneva, these could be just right for you!

We also have a couple of new benches, great new planters, two cool vintage metal rolling chaises and a whole lot more.
